Developing an argument and structuring an essay in English Matthew Huntley

The aim of this lecture is to help develop argumentative essay-writing skills. The lecture provides strategies to do the following:

• Properly structure essays.
• Avoid mistakes commonly made by Czech speakers when writing in English.
• Establish a position on an issue.
• Substantiate the argument with evidence.
• Present counterarguments without undue negative bias.
• Ensure the essay is stylistically appropriate.
